“Lamenting tales of the underdog” is the best way to sum up the songs of Paddy Nash. Quirky, melodic and thought provoking. Hailing from Derry City, Paddy was a founding member and chief songwriter of the award winning Folk Rock outfit The Whole Tribe Sings,
He formed The Happy Enchiladas in 2009 and they released their debut album in March 2010 to huge critical acclaim. Performances at Glasgowbury, The Hope & Anchor and The Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival to name a few have seen them gain a reputation for their high energy live performances. 'Times of Transition' is their eagerly anticipated second album and will be released in June 2012. Great songs that make you think and then get up on the table and dance. Here are some of the things being said about the band and their debut album:
“Music soaked in real life, makes you long for people and days long gone but leaves you wanting more 9/10”
The Irish News
“A lovely bit of work, to be recommended”
Eamon Friel – belfastmusic.org
“It’s the sort of widely accessible yet immensely diverse bluesy driven folk music that the country has to offer and it won’t be long before Paddy Nash is declared a national treasure”
The Mid Ulster Mail
The songs tell tales of love and loss and life that are based in the imperfect real world that the listener can identify with. They prove that you can be knocked around a bit by life and come out stronger and smarter than you were. I can’t recommend this album enough.
“Opportunities to see the Nashman & Co deliver are becoming a lot more plentiful. And the smart money says that this band is going to get busier and busier still.”
Garbhan Downey - CultureNI
"It’s tough to make political commentary into catchy songs, as antidisestablishmentarianism is tricky to throw into a rhyming couplet. Paddy Nash and the Happy Enchiladas seem to have a real knack for that particular job though. Not content with simply writing the election campaign song for Eamonn McCann, they even managed to create a funky little Bruce Springsteenesque number in “Billy Bragg Jeans”. It’s a cracking song that could provoke a real singalong at Eagle’s Rock, with well thought-out lyrics and that lovely saxophone solo included in proceedings. Could be a nice surprise."
“This Album is The Bee’s Knees”
Charlie McGettigan – Shannonside FM
“The Wonderful Paddy Nash”
“The Best Band in Ireland”
Eamonn McCann – Hotpress Magazine
